These are a bit big for my feet. I typically wear somewhere between a women's size 7.5 and 8.5 depending on brand. These women's size 8 Docs are quite wide and a bit too long. I like how roomy they feel though. The shoes seem very well made and are easy to put on. I really like the way they look. After about a week, I broke them in well enough that I can wear them with no fear of blisters (as long as my socks are thick).

The Dr Martens Embury Chelsea Boot is GOOD looking. But when I opened the box, I thot, oh-oh, the ankle opening is too small, the boot is stiff, and it’s heavy!

Well, after I learned how to put them on, w socks high enuf to keep the high ankles from chafing, I couldn’t believe how immediately comfortable they were! I didn’t know how to prove to myself that that wasn’t an initial mistaken belief (it has happened!) without wearing them.

So I wore them shopping and forgot I had them on, they don’t wear heavy and they’re exceedingly comfortable. They aren’t cushioned like athletic shoes but I’ve been looking for winter shoes besides my athletic ones.

I’m surprised and very happy w these boots!

I bought these after a lot of thought because I wanted a Chelsea boot. I always am reluctant to buy boots online because I have a super high instep which makes it difficult to do a pull on boot, but these fit me perfectly! I wear them with my jeans rolled up, and they are exactly what I wanted and what I envisioned! They really bring me back to my 90s youth when I would wear docs. But these are much more updated for the times. They were instantly comfortable and took no breaking in, and the leather is matte so it's not shiny which I love.

I really loved that on my first wear these were SOOOO comfy....honestly, I struggle to get comfy shoes and do nooot believe in breaking shoes in....as many ppl do....if there is pain in the process it's not a good show....at least in my eyes...it just ain't worth it.....but these were AWESOME and comfy.....thought it wld bother me around the opening above my ankle Bec it is a bit tight and u feel it right when u put it on ...bit once u actually start walking I cldnt notice it anymore....they just adjusted so easily....I have them in black and brown....wore the black once so can't say if they will also get crease marked or not like the brown ones .....o and one thing I wish they were a bit less bulky so they wld look nice with a nice outfit bit Bec of bulkiness and creaseware they are too casual and don't match all outfits....but of course I still love them!
Recommend to anyone who does not do beauty for pain and is tomboyish and doesn't care to be very feminine looking daily....and of course it's unisex so for any men out there looking for comfort......it has such a nice wide toe box making them even better....and trust me...I've tried on other dr martins...like the combat laxe ups....so uncomfy and they def beed breaking in.....but these r a gift from heaven from the first wear!

Comfortable right out of the box

I ordered these to wear on my trip to Portugal. I usually wear a women's 8-8.5 so I ordered these in an 8. They came in the original box, with the Doc Marten tissue paper inside that I'm used to seeing from buying shoes at an actual DM store.
The opening at first is a bit tight to slide your foot through but it does give a bit with each wear. The toe box was quite spacious and I'm not sure if that's because it is a unisex boot. I felt like if they offered half sizes a 7.5 would fit better, but a 7 would be too small.

After going up and down the hills in Porto and averaging 7+ miles a day for 6 days in these my feet were fine. I did develop a hot spot on one of my heels but that was from another pair of shoes I wore out for my hiking day trip. Even with that hot spot, a little bandaid and my new boots my feet were ready to walk another 7miles. It rained off and on throughout the trip and my feet stayed dry and I didn't feel like I would slip on the cobblestones at all.
Would recommend buying these while they're on sale if you can.

I love good quality boots and because I take really good care of them, they will easily last 20 years. I have owned Blundstone, Danner, and others in the same price range. All excellent.

However, after a broken foot, my foot shape and size changed, so I tried the usuals listed above. None of them fit quite right.

I saw the Docs listed and decided to give them a try. They are fabulous. I now own them in the brown and black and anticipate a good 20 years out of both pairs.

High quality, excellent value, timeless style. Cannot go wrong with these.

i ordered a size too large- i typically wear 12 in other shoes but a 12 in these were too roomy. felt like i was wearing my dads shoes, you know the feeling. recommendations from other wearers suggested that the shoes should feel tight and snug and should be allowed about a month to break in and feel optimal.

however the shoes are very comfortable. very easy to put on, in-soles are soft, and the base of the shoe feels very secure yet bouncy. wore again for about 6 hours the next day and feet felt great.
