Now is a great time to be a Ben Stiller fan. Not only is Stiller’s sci-fi thirller Severance — a series he directed and executive produced — poised to enter the Emmy’s race with an impressive 14 nominations, but Peacock recently announced that it’s reviving Reality Bites, the 1994 Gen X staple. When asked by Decider if he would be open to collaborating once more with one of his ’90s co-stars, Stiller was effusive in his praise.

“Janeane Garofalo is one of the great untapped talents on the screen, for sure,” Stiller said. “I just read Bob Odenkirk’s book [Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama: A Memoir] about his history of comedy and when we were working together. There is a great passage about Janeane and how responsible she was for the current comedy scene and really that movement, that change in comedy.”

“So yes, I would love to work with Janeane again. She’s one of the funniest, smartest people. It’s been a long time since we’ve worked together, so I hope so. I’ll keep that in mind,” Stiller added.

Garofalo has been making waves int he cultural conversation thanks to a recent New York Times profile. Titled “Janeane Garofalo Never Sold Out. What a Relief,” the feature balanced praise for the comedian’s contributions to the alternative comedy scene with an exploration as to why she hasn’t seen the same level of success as her former co-stars. In addition to Reality Bites, Garofalo starred in the short-lived The Ben Stiller Show, a sketch series that also featured comedy tastemakers like Bob Odenkirk. Fingers crossed she’ll return to Stiller’s universe sometime soon and we’ll see Garofalo in Severance Season 2.
