Clonorchiasis

A foodborne infection caused by parasitic worms in freshwater fish.

Clonorchiasis spreads through eating freshwater fish that's improperly cooked. Symptoms develop as the parasite invades parts of the liver.
Symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Over time, more serious liver disease can develop if the infection is left untreated.
Treatment is usually with antiparasitic medications.
